Jayme Odgers Photomontages for Architectural Pottery

Printed Works - Limited edition set of 7 photomontages by Jayme Odgers for Architectural Pottery - Presented by Bill Hertel & Jayme Odgers

Jayme Odgers PhotoThese 7 images below were created by Jayme Odgers for the 1972 catalog of Architectural Pottery's Pro/Artisan Collection. They were assembled from photographs Odgers took in the Arizona desert and his images of the company’s stoneware products ornamented by David Cressey. These are 6.25" X 8" archival silver gelatin prints made from the original negatives on 14" X 11" Ilford double weight photographic paper. This limited edition of 25 folios was made by master printer Michel Karman in 2007. Each set is presented in a hand-made acid-free folio covered in black canvas.

Odgers has won over 100 gold and silver medal awards for national and international design excellence including the International Silver Typomundus Award for typography. He was commissioned by Life Magazine to do its first “insert poster” for the XXIII Olympiad held in Los Angeles in 1984. Odgers’ work has been exhibited at the Brooklyn Museum, San Francisco Museum of Art, Arco Center for the Visual Arts, Albright- Knox Museum, Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Museo Fortuny (Venice, Italy), Cooper-Hewitt Museum and The White House in Washington, D.C.

He has had eleven one-man shows, eighteen group shows and has lectured nationally and internationally, most recently in Tokyo and Yokohama, Japan. In addition to his photography, Odgers was commissioned to design the fountains for the new downtown headquarters of Los Angeles' Metropolitan Water District.

Bill Hertel joined Architectural Pottery in 1960 as the company’s first showroom manager. His responsibilities were later expanded to include promoting sales and marketing as well as coordinating photography and printing for the company’s catalogs.
