The Museum of California Design is excited to announce that tickets are now available for our 2020 Fundraising Raffle. Prize-winning tickets will be drawn on February 17th, 2020 during the conclusion of the Museum's exhibition Kids' Stuff: California Designs for Children at the Palm Springs Modernism Show and Sale held at the Palm Springs Convention Center. Grand Prize: A pair of Bertoia Side Chairs, designed in California in 1952: manufactured and donated by Knoll Inc. with a retail value of $1,664. These chairs are the adult version of the child-size Bertoia Side Chair that will be featured in the Museum’s exhibition Kids' Stuff: California Designs for Children. Bertoia found sublime grace in an industrial material and created an icon of mid-century modern design.
Second Prize: The Eames Toy is a large-scale building toy that echoes the Eamesian principle of modular systems. Charles and Ray Eames first produced this toy in 1951. It was the first toy that they manufactured and sold in retail outlets. After nearly 60 years, this, one of the most sought after Eames collectibles, is again available for people of all ages to enjoy and experience. The Eames Toy was donated by the Eames Office. An assembled Toy will be featured in Kids' Stuff: California Designs for Children. Retail value: $118.
